Turn long text into a short summary by picking out the sentences that carry the key points.

How it works: This is an extractive summarizer — it picks whole sentences from your text. It does not understand meaning and it does not write new sentences. Check that nothing important was left out before relying on the summary.

How to use the AI Summarizer

  1. Paste the text you want to shorten — an article, a report, or a chapter.
  2. Choose a summary length: Short, Medium, or Detailed.
  3. Click Summarize and read the selected sentences in their original order.
  4. Copy the summary, or run it again at a different length if you need more or less detail.

About this tool

This summarizer scores every sentence by how often its key words appear in the whole text. Sentences that repeat the text's main ideas score highest, and the first sentences get a small bonus because introductions usually state the topic. The top sentences, up to your chosen length, become the summary — kept in their original order so it still reads naturally.

Because it only selects sentences, it never invents facts. The trade-off is that it can miss a point that was stated only once, in unusual words. For study notes or a quick overview that is usually fine; for decisions, read the full text.

Worked example: An 8-sentence paragraph about solar panels — covering savings, falling costs, tax credits, low maintenance, and a 25-year lifespan — summarized at Short length gives 2 sentences: "Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. Homeowners should compare quotes from several installers before choosing solar panels." The tool kept the opening sentence (introductions get a small bonus) and the sentence that repeats the key words most, and cut it from 8 sentences to 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the summarizer choose sentences?

It counts how often each meaningful word appears in the whole text, scores every sentence by its words, and keeps the highest-scoring sentences up to your chosen length, in original order.

Does it write new sentences?

No. It only selects sentences that already exist in your text. That means it never invents facts, but it can miss a point stated only once.

What length should I choose?

Short is best for a quick overview. Medium fits study notes. Detailed keeps most of the argument while cutting repetition.

Is my text stored anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your pasted text is never uploaded to or stored on our servers.

Can I summarize very long documents?

Yes, but summaries work best on texts of a few thousand words. For book-length text, summarize one chapter at a time.
